Terms of service

These are the rules for using jlog at jlog.ai. They are short on purpose. Where they touch your data, the privacy policy has the detail.

Who these cover

These terms are between you and Bhargav Venkatesh Babu, who runs the hosted service at jlog.ai ("jlog", "we"). By creating an account or using the Chrome extension with it, you agree to them.

jlog's source code is MIT licensed. If you run your own copy, the licence governs the code and these terms do not apply to your instance.

What jlog is

jlog records the job applications you make, fills in standard fields of application forms from your profile, keeps your applications in one list, and on the Pro plan builds CVs and drafts answers from facts you imported. It is an early product. Features will change, and some will have rough edges; the documentation describes what each one does today.

Your account

• One account is for one person. Keep your sign-in method secure.
• Extension keys act on your account. Anyone holding one can add applications as you, so revoke a key in Settings if it leaves your machine.
• You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, and at least 16.

Your AI provider key

Features that use a model (reading a posting with Extract, reading a CV, tailored CVs and drafted answers) run on the provider and key you add in Settings. Your use of that provider is between you and them: their terms apply, and they bill you for usage. jlog stores your key encrypted, uses it only for requests you make, and never marks usage up. Only your own account can use your key.

You stay in control of what you send

• jlog never submits an application. Autofill fills fields; you read the form and press submit yourself.
• Check what goes out under your name. Filled fields, tailored CVs and drafted answers are built from what you gave jlog, but they can still be wrong or out of date. You are responsible for what you send to an employer.
• jlog does not find you a job. It records, fills and drafts. It makes no promise about interviews, offers or how any employer will read what you send.

Your content

What you put into jlog, such as applications, notes, your CV and saved answers, stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run the service for you, as the privacy policy describes. We do not sell it or use it to train models.

Using it fairly

Please do not:

• use jlog to send false or misleading information to employers;
• use it to apply in bulk or automatically, or to break a job board's own terms;
• try to access other people's accounts or data, or get around the limits of your plan;
• overload, probe or disrupt the service, or use it for anything unlawful.

jlog is not affiliated with LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Wellfound, Y Combinator or any other site it works with, and their terms still apply to your use of them.

The Pro plan

• Pro costs €9 a month, billed monthly in advance through Stripe, and renews each month.
• Cancel any time from Settings, through Manage billing. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and is not billed again.
• If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you can withdraw within 14 days of subscribing by emailing us. We refund the payment, less a proportionate amount for the days you already used.
• Beyond that, payments are not refunded for part of a month, except where the law requires it.
• If the price changes, we tell you at least 30 days before, and the new price applies from your next period. You can cancel before then.
• Model usage is billed by your AI provider, not by jlog.

Availability and changes

We work to keep jlog running, but it is provided as it is, without a promise that it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or remove features. If we ever shut the hosted service down, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance, so you can take your data out.

Ending your use

You can stop at any time and delete your account from Settings, which deletes your data as the privacy policy describes and cancels a Pro subscription. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, jlog is not liable for indirect losses, lost opportunities or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health, and nothing takes away rights you have as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change applies. The date at the top always shows the current version.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of Germany. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.
